Mitchell is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker from Toronto, Ontario.

Mitchell makes arty genre movies, and is working towards his dream of making films as great as Blade Runner, Drive, Good Time, and Ratcatcher.

In 2025, Mitchell obtained his Master of Fine Art in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory - the number one film school in the United States.

His latest film, Conditions of Release, premiered at the 2024 Warsaw Film Festival and continues to play festivals across the world.

Approximately one million years ago, Mitchell obtained an Honours Bachelor of Art with Distinction from the University of Toronto in History, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. Before film, Mitchell worked as a psychiatric patient advocate and criminal defence lawyer.

His film work explores crime, state apparatuses of control, and the meaning of freedom.
